We answered a customer’s demand to create a new non-flame-resistant jacket designed specifically for the USAF Security Forces that protect our CONUS Air Force bases, the loadmasters preparing and loading cargo onto transport aircraft, and any other military personnel stationed within the US that need a jacket to protect them from whatever conditions nature throws their way..

Material and Construction

The Waypoint™ Softshell Jacket is built from our proprietary 4-way stretch Massif® 3-Layer laminate fabric featuring WINDSTOPPER® technology by GORE-TEX® LABS. 

The first line of defence is an exterior lightweight nylon knit fabric. The knit construction allows the material to stretch and conform to the body unlike a typical woven fabric while remaining highly breathable, providing superb water repellancy, and extreme durability.

The third layer is a soft, lightweight fleece backing designed for comfort and warmth in cold weather conditions while drying quickly and wicking moisture away from the body.

Layered between the tough nylon face and soft fleece backer, the GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER® membrane provides leading weather protection with a very breathable, highly water resistant, and 100% windproof barrier between you and the elements.

Breathability, Ventilation, and Warmth

It is not uncommon to see servicemembers combining a fleece layer for warmth, followed by a hard-shell parka to keep out wind and water. After all, the issued ECWCS system is built on this principle of layering. While this allows for modularity and versatility as a whole system, it often comes at the expense of wide-ranging performance in the component garments. Over extended periods of wear, issues such as moisture buildup from sweat and water ingress between each layer can compromise the entire system.

The Waypoint™ Softshell Jacket combines all of the elements of a layering system into one garment that enhances breathability, mobility, and long-term comfort. As an integrated material, the 4-way stretch Massif® 3-Layer laminate allows for a single garment that moves with the wearer, blocks wind and rain, and insulates while directly wicking moisture away from the body and out through the fleece and membrane for superior breathability. 

Additionally, the two-way side-vent zippers on the Waypoint™ Softshell Jacket provide quick access to your sidearm and beltline, while also opening from the top-down to provide underarm ventilation. This allows the wearer to dump excess body heat on the move or keep the jacket fully sealed for maximum warmth on the flight line or on watch.
