Sample Maker

Massif is seeking a Sample Maker to sew prototypes, factory sew-bys, sales samples, and small production runs. The Sample Maker works closely with the Design team to perfect patterns and optimize manufacturability, along with other Company objectives. This position is part time with the potential to be full time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sews and constructs new and current designs in accordance with Company construction specifications, technical data packages, and quality requirements
  • Provides feedback to Design team on technical data, including problems with designs, patterns, specifications, and bills of materials
    • Makes pattern corrections manually as needed
  • Repairs commercialized garments as requested
  • Performs routine sewing machine/equipment maintenance
  • Monitors inventory of trims and supplies and coordinates with Sample Administrator to order replenishments as needed
  • Participates in garment fittings as needed
  • Attends weekly Design & Development meetings as needed
  • Performs backup cutting as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Performs all duties in accordance with Company Quality Management System
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least five years of professional sewing experience
  • Sewing machines and equipment proficiencies: single needle, double needle, flat lock, overlock (small serge), overlock with safety stitch (large serge), bartack, cover stitch, gravity feed iron, snap/grommet press, heat press, die cut machine, and power fabric cutter
  • Knowledge of garment construction and ability to read and interpret patterns
  • Good hand/eye coordination and ability translate designs from two to three dimensions
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, including ability to read and comprehend technical data packages and purchase orders
  • Team-player orientation
  • Strong organization and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities and assignments
  • Ability to work overtime hours to meet business needs
